Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher

English, Mathematics and statistics, Te reo Māori

East Taieri School is seeking a passionate and relational Year 0/1 teacher to join our kura at the beginning of term 2 on a fixed-term basis (maternity leave) for the remainder of 2026.

We are a vibrant, inclusive school with a strong sense of community and a clear commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our New Entrant/Year 1 programme provides a nurturing, structured, and culturally responsive start to school life, ensuring our youngest learners feel connected, confident, and ready to learn.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Has a genuine passion for working with new entrant/young learners
• Builds strong relationships with tamariki and whānau
• Demonstrates effective, play-based and structured literacy (BSLA trained) practice
•  Has experience working with diverse learners
• Has strength in mathematics teaching and ability to lead others
• Is reflective, collaborative, and open to learning
